The Landscape
Cybercrime isn't slowing down — it's getting smarter. Here's what the numbers look like.

Why $19 is fair
ChargeGuardian isn't a faceless security company. It's an independent project started by one person, Jason Taylor, after watching a few individuals and himself lose 100s of thousands and millions to scams. These were preventable and so the idea for ChargeGuardian was born, to prevent this from happening to others.
The question behind every feature is the same one that started the project: does this help people stay safe without getting in their way? Payments, messages, crypto — if something feels off, ChargeGuardian flags it. That's the whole job. No upsells buried in scary warnings, no data harvested in the name of "protection."
Being a small, independent project is a fair thing to ask about, so here's the honest version:
"I have seen friends and cohorts lose hundreds of thousands, even millions, to scams. With so much of this happening these days, more protection is needed. Every feature starts with one question: does this help people stay safe without getting in their way? Payments. Messages. Crypto. If something feels off, we flag it. That's the job."
— Jason Taylor, Founder

Any extension that touches checkout pages deserves extra scrutiny — including this one. So here's exactly what we ask for, and why. No jargon.
ChargeGuardian asks to run on every site ("all URLs"). That sounds broad, and it's a fair thing to question. Here's the reason: scams and surprise charges don't only happen on big, known stores. They happen on small merchants, brand-new domains, and checkout pages we've never seen before — which is exactly where a pre-approved list of "safe sites" would leave you unprotected. To catch a wrong charge or a spoofed checkout anywhere, the extension has to be able to look anywhere.
Having permission to run on a page isn't the same as constantly watching you. ChargeGuardian stays dormant until it detects a checkout or payment flow. It's not logging your browsing, building a profile, or recording what you read. It's waiting for the one moment that matters: before money moves.
Checkout interception and the core scam checks run locally, in your browser. Your card numbers and payment details are never collected, stored on our servers, or sold — there's no analytics pipeline behind this.
A few advanced Pro features — like the Guardian AI assistant and the optional message scanning on Android — need to reach the internet to do their job, and we won't pretend otherwise. Those are clearly labeled, and they only run when you ask them to. The everyday payment guard does not require any of that.
